What does Ego Relaxation address?
My early forays into meditation as a teenager were discouraging affairs. At the time I had little discipline and even less patience. The practice that really helped to cut through the clutter and lift me out of my inner emotional chaos was the use of a mantra. Simple Sanskrit mantras given to me by my yoga teacher at the time were enormously calming, centring and powerful in their ability to anchor me quickly into greater silence.
Over 30 years later and mantras and devotional chanting are a fundamental part of my teaching and my personal practice.
Using a mantra is subtle, potent medicine. Every time you sing or say a name of the Divine you cleanse a veil of your ego. The heart is opened and blockages within the subtle body can gradually release. This leaves more space for trust, love, kindness, wisdom and joy. To evoke God is to evoke your Boundless Self. Mantras help refine and rededicate your mind, heart and body so that more of your true nature can shine.
